Brandon Michael Varvel, 21, of Stonington, IL passed away on Monday (June 20, 2011).
A service to celebrate Brandon’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday (June 25, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Brandon was born on June 11, 1990 in Decatur, IL, the son of Kirk L. Varvel and Brenda K. Sunderland. He worked for Niantic Grain Elevator, Norsen Construction and Trimby and Sons. He was a former volunteer fireman for Stonington Fire & Rescue. Brandon loved to fish, hunt, camp, race go-carts and work on cars.
Surviving is his mother: Brenda (Billy) Sunderland of Stonington, IL; grandmothers: Shirley Ramsey of Niantic, IL, Sue Varvel of Macon, IL and Bonnie Sunderland of Stonington, IL and Mary Weller of Mt. Zion, IL ; step-sister: Sara Sunderland of Taylorville, IL; half-sister: Megan Sunderland of Stonington, IL; half-brothers: Travis Sunderland and Braydon Sunderland both of Stonington, IL; girlfriend: Ashley M. Bandy and her son Jaxcyn of Taylorville, IL; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Brandon was about to become an uncle for the first time in September. Brandon will be greatly missed, especially his precious smile.
Brandon was preceded in death by his father, grandfathers: Kenneth Ramsey, Robert “Bob” Varvel and Billy Sunderland Sr..

I Miss You So Very, Very much....It's hard to comprehend that you're not here where I can see you....But, I'm comforted knowing that you're here in spirit!!! You've Always been my Protector....Now you're "My Guardian Angel"!! I Pray that you continue to give me strength to get through this Nightmare!!....I thought when Grandpa Ramsey (My Dad) passed on January 18, 2011 (I couldn't imagine a Greater loss). The Loss of a Loved one is hard, but your child, is a part of you. A Mom, carries her child for 9 months (Brandon 9 months & 6 days to be exact....stubborn :), But Well worth the wait) & to give Birth (7 lbs 15 ozs) is an Experience that's Hard to describe!!!!! A baby is a little Miracle from God. I brought you into this world & you're Dad received you in Heaven. It's comforting to know that you won't be alone for the next Journey that God has in store for you. You, Aunt Dawn & I were in Grandpa's room when he passed. I feel God made sure you were with me, because he knew you would be there to catch me if I fell. I MISS YOU & LOVE YOU, ALWAYS & FOREVER!!! Rest in Peace my son & remember.....this isn't Good Bye..... it's just See You When I See You!!!!! <3
